Tuscany’s romantic new gourmet retreat

Tuscany’s romantic new gourmet retreat

The calm Hilltop Hamlet from Castiglioncello del Trinoro is located in the Tuscany’s Scenic Val d’Orcia, near the Umbrian border. It once made it on the sidelines of the task – until the American professor and lawyer Michael Cioffi adhered to new life throughout his stone.

The result of years of restoration takes shape in Monteverdi, a ridiculously romantic hiding place that is seamlessly integrated into the medieval environment.

There is no border between the hotel and village here: Instead, the restaurants, bedrooms, art galleries and spa, from which Monteverdi consist of, are integrated into the very fabric of the village, whereby hotel guests have the same cobblestones as the nine permanent residents.

The most breathtaking are the dramatic views that are spied on from every viewpoint (wide golden green, which extend towards the horizon, littered with olive groves and highly towering cypresses)-so much that a stay in Monteverdi steps into a real postcard.

Where?

(Monteverdi)

Monteverdi, which is wrapped by the rolling green of the southern Tuscany, is located in the famous Val d’Orcia, part of the region near the Umbrish border, and famous for their powerful landscape. style

The hotel is the village and the village is the hotel: there is hardly any or no distinction between the two. Instead, Monteverdi’s honey-shop buildings in Castiglioncello del Trinoro are related to paved roads and lavender-fragrance paths that wind towards the spa, gym, cooking school and bedroom.

The original architecture was kept carefully and combined with modern design, with slim wood and glass accents perfectly complemented by the Tuscan stone.

At every turn, laice frame terraces offer breathtaking panoramas over the hills beyond and flowering gardens over the cliff. The only background noise is the soft buzz of bees and butterflies that fly between the roses.

In the heart of the hotel there is the culinary academy, in which guests can cook the Tuscan path: fragrant herbs from the kitchen gardens, roll up pasta from the ground up and whip five-course festivals that celebrate the bounty of the season. Beyond the kitchen, a small infinity pool at sticky afternoons waves sun worshipers, but it is the calm spa of the hotel that steals the show.

This smooth sanctuary has an impressive selection of spoiling experiences: Cyriotherapy Chambers, a sauna circuit and underground hot and cold baths. In addition, there is a handful of steamed treatment rooms in which old-related Tuscan rituals (from knot-node olive oil massages to age-contrary face treatments) in cooperation with Florence’s legendary pharmacist Santa Maria Novella were produced in cooperation with Florence. There is also a boutique fitness studio for the work of all carbohydrates.

The food is the focus of Monteverdi, where a focus on seasonal regional cook prescribes the menus in the hotel’s two restaurants.

For intimate dinner and the chance to meet other guests, sit at the cooking table for a multi-course evening dinner with a contemporary flourishing, followed by sunowners in the terrace bar. In the morning you return to Zita to leisurely, in the fresco breakfast: think of homemade pastries and Florentine eggs that nibbled under the vines.

The crowning jewel of the hotel is the newly presented Orade restaurant, which opened its doors in May this year. The intimate dining room seats designed by renowned architects Foster + Partners only 14 guests and a shiny melange made of steel, wood and stone.
