Reinaldo Herrera, a referee of the social set and international style, died at the age of 91.
Herrera, whose name and similarity are connected to his fashion designer of more than 50 years of Carolina, died in his house in Manhattan on Tuesday.

He was born in Caracas, where his father Don Reinaldo Herrera was the 4th Marquis of Torre Casa when Reinaldo Herrera Uslar, was born as Rusto-Herrera Guevara. After visiting the High School as a boarder at St. Mark’s School in Massachusetts, he studied at Harvard University and Georgetown University. Herrera worked in Venezuela as a journalist at “Buenos Dias”, a morning news program.
The Herreras married in Caracas in 1968. Herrera inherited the Spanish title of the 5th Marquis de Torre Casa after the death of his father four years ago. The Herreras later moved to New York, where he continued his brand in the media world when he joined Vanity Fair when Tina Brown was at the head of the mast head. The Herrera is known to be charming, intellectually and curious that he continued in the possession of Condé Nast all his life after Graydon Carter followed Brown.
But it was his family that he mainly appreciated. He and Carolina shared four daughters: Carolina and Patricia Herrera Lansing from their marriage and Mercedes Mendoza and Ana Luisa Bruchou from the first marriage of the designer, which ended with a divorce.
Carolina Herrera once said about her husband: “I think I was insane in Reiningo when I was 15 or 16 years old, but then he went to Europe.
Before Carolina Herrera became a force in fashion with her own signature designer label, she was known as the “Mrs. Life, work, family and travel can be a difficult combination to compensate for many brave names, but Carolina and Reinaldo Herrera seemed to have this formula cold.
They moved from Venezuela to the United States and were known to be with a fashionable amount, including Nan Kempner, Carroll and Milton Petrie, Mica and Ahmet Ertegun, Chessy Rayner, Aileen Mehle, Estée Lauder, Bill Blass and other well -affected New Yorkers. Like his wife, Herrera later became American citizens’ life. In 2017, he publicly expressed the political unrest in Venezuela after a nephew, Reinaldo Herrera, was kidnapped and killed, and another nephew Roberto Picon Herrera, a pro-democratic activist, was held in a military prison.
Died in advance by his sister Carolina and a brother Gonzalo, Herrera is survived by his brother Luis Felipe, his wife Carolina and her four daughters mentioned above.
A private funeral fair is planned for Friday morning in St. Vincent Ferrer in New York City. In accordance with his wishes, Herrera will be buried in Caracas, Venezuela, where he was born.
