Martinez, who withdrawn from the Spanish squad for her Nations League games due to a swollen right knee, played the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 win of Barcelona, who cleared the league leaders in Laliga on Thursday.
“The club understands that the participation of Inigo Martinez on the FIFA regulations on Appendix 5 of Appendix I violated the status and transfer of players yesterday,” said Osasuna in a statement.
“(IT) states that a player who does not follow or leave his national team for medical reasons, while the five calendar days after the end of the international period do not play games for his club.
“Osasuna believes that Inigo Martinez, whose absence was due to the Spanish national team to a medical vacation, was not entitled to play in yesterday’s game according to the FIFA regulations.”
The result left Osasuna 14th in the overall ranking, six points before the relegation zone.
Barcelona was originally supposed to play Osasuna on March 8, but the death of the Barca Club Doctor forced the game to postpone March 27, only four days to Spain’s match, since no further date was available.
