City came against Plymouth from behind to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals, which partly thanks to a bracket from an unlikely source.

Argyle, who defeated the leaders of the Premier League Liverpool in the last round – after he had previously exposed Brentford, took over a surprise lead in the Etihad Stadium, but was in the half -time back and was unable to withstand the pressure in the second half when City was moved into the next level.

Jean-Philippe Mateta was released from the hospital, Crystal Palace has confirmed.

Crystal Palace’s 3-1 win over Millwall to book a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals was overshadowed by Mateta, who received eight minutes of treatment on the field before it was warded off at the beginning of the game after he was kicked in the face by goalkeeper Liam Roberts.

Roberts was shown a red card by referee Michael Oliver after a Var rating.
