Jack Grialish devoted his goal to his late brother after scoring the relegation on Wednesday in the 2-0 victory in Manchester City.
The English international achieved his first Premier League goal for 16 months at his first start to the competition since last December when City returned to fourth place with a comfortable success in the Etihad Stadium.
The 25th anniversary of the death of his younger brother Keelan, who died at the age of only nine months.
Geralish said on the club’s official website: “This day is always difficult in the family, but I was happy to score a goal.
“My mother and father were here. This day is always difficult in the family. So it was brilliant to score and win.”
Geralish fought regular actions this season due to the form of Jeremy Doku and Savinho.
All three players started against the foxes and combined after only two minutes to open Grialish’s opener.
City Manager Pep Guardiola said: “Jack is an incredible person in relation to gestures and he is incredibly generous.
“I didn’t know. I can’t imagine how hard (it was), but to be with his mother and father, his sister and the whole family is good.
“He scored a goal and made a good game. I am happy for him. I know that it is not easy if you don’t play quite regularly.”
After 29 minutes, Omar Marmoush added the second and the city then let the rest of the game through in order to push an ineffective Leicester, who keeps 12 points of security, closer to the drop.
Guardiola said: “It was not easy with 10 players behind the ball in the box and we missed the third goal to be more relaxed.
“But we only admitted something towards the end and I’m happy about a good performance.”
Guardiola also offered more clarification over the length of Erling Haaland’s absence after the Norwegian had suffered an ankle injury at the FA Cup final victory in Bournemouth on Sunday.
Since then, the striker has had a special treatment of Dr. Ramon Cugat received in Barcelona.
He said, “He saw him and we expect five to six weeks.”
The head of Leicester, Ruud van Nistelrooy, admitted that the situation of his team is bleak, but does not yet give up.
The Dutch said: “Of course we live in reality. We know what the situation in the table is, scores – to play 12 points with eight games.

“But it is mathematical, as I said, it’s not over yet and we have the responsibility to continue.”
Leicester has now lost seven in a row without evaluation and Van Nistelrooy admitted that they were never in their last competition.
He said: “Of course you want to have a good start in City Away, but we were 2-0 on a long night before half an hour.”
