Tired boutier still lives in the LPGA match game after 45-hole day

Celine Boutier played 45 holes at the LPGA match game in Las Vegas on Saturday before Darkness stopped her quarter-finals (David Becker).

France Celine Boutier produced a stamina from Stina to keep her hopes of the LPGA game alive on Saturday, and grinded astonishing 45 holes before the darkness stopped her quarter-finals with Sweden Madelene Sagstrom.

The exhausting day of the 31-year-old 11th Seed began in the last 16 when her match against South Africa Ashleigh Buhai after 18 holes on the Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas ended everything square champions.

That brought both players to a marathon meeting with a dramatic sudden death that boutier won in the 28th hole – the longest game in tournament history.

“It was definitely difficult to grind,” said Boutier.

“I have the feeling that we both played quite calmly and went a lot back and forth. I had a few chances and she had a few chances, so it was to the end, but I’m glad it’s over.”

After this energy -saving victory, Boutier had only 30 minutes before she was back on the course for her quarter -finals against Sagstrom.

Another tense argument developed with the players after 17 holes when the darkness thought to play.

Boutier and Sagstrom will return on Sunday the early Sunday to play the 18th with the possibility of playing even more playoff holes.

“It was a very long day,” said Boutier after the game was suspended.

“I somehow feel tired, but I have the feeling that it was a good match again this afternoon, very tight and with Madelene goes back and forth. So I just have to push further tomorrow.”

Boutier or Sagstrom is faced against Angel Yin from the United States in front of a semi -finals that defeated Thailand’s Jeeno ThitiLUL 4 & 2.

Mithai Ariya Jutanugarn reached the semi -finals by defeating Sweden Maja Stark 4 & 2

Ariya will compete against Lauren Coughlin from the United States after Coughlin achieved a one-up victory against Australia’s Stephanie Kyracoucou.
