West Ham will be again without the injured Edson Alvarez when Graham Potter returns to his former Club Brighton on Saturday.
The Hammers visit the Amex in the hope of achieving better performance and a better result than last weekend when they gave a balance from 93 minutes to the bottom of the league in one final 1-1 draw.
Midfielder Alvarez was on the bench for the 2-1 defeat in Liverpool the week before and then missed the Southampton game because of a back injury.
Potter said on Thursday in his press conference: “Edson Alvarez is still on the road with a back injury. He will probably miss the game. Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, [he is back] Next week [against Tottenham].
“Long-term absences will still be there. Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be back and be available for the squad.”
WAN-BISSAKA missed the Southampton drawing with a toe injury, but is expected back. Potter was able to call him on the bench instead of risking him in the starting line -up, whereby Vladimir Coufal was able to present.
Striker Evan Ferguson is loaned by Brighton and cannot compete in his parents’ club.
Potter was four against Saints, but was able to return to Brighton to his familiar 3-5-2 formation.
It remains to be seen whether Aaron Cresswell will have recovered from muscle thinning.
