Eberswalde, Germany (AP)-A company that specializes in early forest fire has developed a new drone based by AI that will accelerate the detection, location and monitoring of fires.

The Silvaguard drone from Dryard Networks was introduced outside of Berlin in Eberswalde on Thursday, since forest fires that are driven by extreme heat and climate change are becoming a more common, often fatal phenomenon worldwide.

Among other things, the drone provides infrared images and works in combination with a fire detection system that the company has previously developed and which is already used in several countries. The fire labeling system, called Silvanet, is designed in such a way that they record forest fires in the smoldering middle class using solar -powered alleys that are connected via a wireless network.

Each alleyman can protect an area of the size of a soccer field and be attached to a tree. The plan is that as soon as it recognizes a fire, Silvanet is triggered by a nearby Silvaguard drone to fly to the location and provide detailed images.

“Today we saw a combination of Silvanet-the solar drive alleys that discovered the fire within minutes with Silvaguard, the first prototype of an autonomous AI, a drone that we sent to a fire,” said Carsten Brinkschulte, The CEO and Co-Founder, Dryaden-Network.

The drone “Flew autonomously to the location of the sensor, recognized the fire and delivered from the fire point over his head and optically,” he said about the newly developed drone.

The company is still waiting to use the commercial use of Silvaguard drones from authorities.

The information about the fire, including geographical coordinates, video and infrared images, are then sent to the firefighters who then know where the fire spreads out and how great it is, what helps them know how many firefighters need to be used.

“When it comes to forest fires, the time is of crucial importance, they cannot be fast enough,” said Brinkschulte.
