The Fashion and Culture Platform Black Fashion Fair is preparing for its first symposium entitled “Black Fashion Forward”.
The event on May 10th takes place in the Times Center in New York City and is intended to strengthen and celebrate black creative people in the fashion industry. The participants will hear from designers, managers, editors and influencers such as Kai Collective’s founder Fisayo Longe as well as Ahmad Barber and Donté Maurice from AB + DM. There will be a variety of discussions, including “Designing Women: Refinition of Power in Fashion”, “Structure of the bag with Brandon Blackwood”, “The development of Black Hair & Beauty”, “Influence of fashion: the power of storytelling” and “fashion as a cultural strength”.

Joe Robinson, the creative director and founder of Joefreshgoods, will take part in questions and answers how he has made a hyperlocal vision in a worldwide resonant brand, while “from Chicago into the world: the cultural currency of Joefreshgoods”.
The Wilglory Tanjong by Anima Iris and the creative strategist Skylar Marshai will also be part of the one -day line -up. The event will examine the essential role that black creative and experts have fashionable, as well as the challenges they encounter, and the contributions they make. The event is the latest effort by Black Fashion Fair, Antoine Gregory, for a supportive community that is a more integrative fashion industry in the future.
From 2021, black creative people only made up for 4.9 percent of people who work in fashion design, compared to 12.6 percent of the Labor Work Force in the industry. Aigi is the professional association for design based in New York.
Black Fashion Fair was founded in 2020 and undertakes to work for the discovery and promotion of the black designers of the past, the present and the future. In 2022, the Fair Fashion Foundation started the Jean-Michel Basquiat Emerging Designer Grant in cooperation with the estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
