Burning Man participants look wild weather

Las Vegas – Mother Nature was not a friend of this year’s Burning Man Festival Goers.

From the wild dust storms of this weekend to high heat and humidity to the possibility of rain and flooding in the coming days, it was an eventful start to the annual event in the Black Rock desert in Nevada.

Black Rock City leafed through strong dust storms and 50 miles per hour on Saturday, which are causing chaos on campsites and causing large travel delays in the region. The National Weather Service published a dust tower on Saturday evening, in which “a wall of the bladder dust” was followed north.

As a result of the wind and dust, four minor injuries were reported, a burning man spokesman confirmed to NBC News.

The storms growled the traffic as strong winds and poor visibility forced the officials to close the goals in Black Rock City. But for participants who were already inside, the blowing dust whipped over the desert playa, stormed many campsites and scattered objects.

“If you are in Black Rock City, settle the hatches, take care of your camp and not drive,” warned the official Burning Man report, which tracks down the traffic conditions in Black Rock City, on Saturday to X.

“50 miles per hour for over an hour with higher gusts. The desert always tries to kill her,” wrote one participant on Facebook and added that it was “definitely the most creepy experience” at Burning Man.

An estimated 70,000 people will travel to Black Rock City for the festival that runs until September 1st.

On Sunday, the first day of the festival, the temperatures of 100 degrees Fahrenheit, together with the humidity, approached around 57% for parts of north -nevada. The National Weather Service emphasized another dust consulting consultant this evening, in which it predicted 50 miles per hour and less than 1 mile visibility for parts of central nevada.

Rain and possible thunderstorms temporarily closed the gates into the Black Rock City and stopped vehicle traffic.

“The travel time for cars that are currently on the Gate Road 7 hours after the gate gate,” wrote the festival officials on Sunday evening on X.

The clean -up work is now underway, but the wild weather is far from over.

Rain and possible thunderstorms on Monday and in the next few days could lead in black rock deserts for dice conditions. The dusty seabed is susceptible to floods, and excessive rain can turn the Playa into a muddy surface.

In 2023, two days of heavy downpours provided thousands of burning man participants in the thick mud in the desert. The festival goers were said by “Shelter in place”, and a death was reported by the Sheriff of the Pershing County district.
