Ex-goal minister to lead the new government agency to bring the technology to the market faster

A former conservative minister was confirmed as the first head of a new government agency that markets new technologies for faster.

Lord David Willetts was confirmed as the first chairman of the Regulatory Innovation Office (Rio).

The organization was launched in October and is intended to reduce the stress for companies that want to launch new products and services.

Lord Willetts said he was “honored” to take on the role and welcomed the “exciting opportunity to shape regulatory approaches that strengthen new technologies”.

Among the technologies that the corporation could provide are drones that can provide medication or AI training software for surgeons, officers from the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology said.

Drones could also be viewed in relation to other industries such as a faster delivery of packages or food.

Lord Willetts served as a member of Havant from 1992 to 2015 and was a Paymaster General under Sir John Major for a while before returning to the government as universities and Minister of Science in the administration of Lord David Cameron.

Peter Kyle, secretary for science and technology, said: “Lord Willetts brings the specialist knowledge and management experience, which will be the key to rationalizing innovations and the excusing innovation that we know that can improve life.
