The Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts is faced with a longer ban for his challenge that the striker of Crystal Palace Jean-Philippe Mateta took to the hospital.
Ex-Middlesbrough goalkeeper Roberts was sent to Mateta in the head after the stepping when the couple ran into the ball on Saturday in the fifth round on Saturday, with Mateta needed 25 stitches.
The football association confirmed on Wednesday that it had submitted an assertion to apply for a longer ban on Roberts, in which it was found that the standard sanction of three games due to serious fouls in this case was “clearly insufficient”.
Roberts has time to give an answer by Thursday, said the FA.

The chairman of Crystal Palace, Steve Parish, described Roberts’ challenge as the “most ruthless” he saw, while television and media personality Piers Morgan described the incident as “shameful”.
Palace confirmed that Mateta had been released from the hospital on Saturday evening after Robert’s challenge had left him with a severe injury to his left ear.
Millwall made an explanation on Monday in which he said that they were “disgusted” about the abuse directed against Roberts.
“The reporting on the matter as well as shameful suggestions of certain news organizations and top-class numbers within the sport, the Liam intended to harm Jean-Philippe, contributed to the unjustified character attack of Liam and driven the dependency online consumption towards him,” added the club declaration.
“No player in the Millwall Football Club steps on the place with the intention of having a different damage, and the club will continue to support Liam, who turned to Jean-Philippe on Saturday evening with an apology that was immediately accepted.”
The supporters of Millwall had a minute with solidarity with Roberts in the championship game against Bristol City at the same point in the game when he was sent against Palace.
