Gayle King ‘wing it’ on a trip to space

Gayle King is ready to pass into space, but admits that she is still finding out what to pack.

“I flee it,” said the TV presenter to Us Weekly at the 11th award ceremony.

“I’m getting ready. I now put my bag together. How do you put in your pocket to go into space, right?”

King is part of the All-Women Crew for the upcoming mission of Blue Origin and marks the first time that the company of Jeff Bezos sends a completely female team into space.

“It’s the first all-women crew,” said King. “I imagine we will comb our hair and put on lipstick.”

King will take part in the start of April 14 to other space travelers, including pop star Katy Perry, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, the bioastonaut researcher and the civil rights lawyer Amanda Nguyen, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn and the journalist-helicopter pilot Lauren Sanchez.

The historic NS-31 mission will be lifted from the Blue Origin starting point in West-Texas and is expected to take about 11 minutes.

While it does not reach an orbital area, the flight crosses the Kármán line – about 65 miles above the earth – for international standards as the edge of the room.

Before the withdrawal, the crew will complete its last training in Van Horn, Texas.
