George Russell would have no concerns if Mercedes would try to sign Max Verstappen because he believes that he matches every driver on the Internet.

Vipens tricky start to the season in Red Bull, after the very public pursuit of Mercedes boss Toto Wolff’s very public persecution of the Dutchman, once again invested speculation in the direction of speculation last season.

Wolff made no secret of his wish to sign the four -time world champion to replace Lewis Hamilton, but this was in the past after he had brought in the talented young youthful Kimi Antonelli.

Russell had an excellent start to the season, demanded three podium days in four races and set his car under the dominant McLarens.

The 27-year-old is no longer a contract at the end of this season, but his services mean that he does not have to fear Verstappen.

“Why didn’t they want to sign Max? It is completely understandable,” Russell told the PA news agency in Jeddah.

“He is the best at the moment. He is a four -time world champion.

“This is nothing against me or Kimi. There are two drivers for each team and he is one person.

“It doesn’t affect me a bit because the performance is my currency and I think at the moment I think that I appeared in this power grid.

“I am very happy. Many drivers have contracts, but the fact is that the teams, if they do not appear, find a way to get them out of it.

“If time is in time, we will discuss a contract.

“I feel that people who are too concerned that a contract or no clarity lacks are those who do not convince them. I think.

“I have been with a world champion with a world champion, the greatest of all time, for three years (Hamilton) for three years.

“I think I can beat someone who gave the right chance, and that’s your strength.”

Mercedes started the season sharply, with Russell only 14 points in front of the championship leader Lando Norris in the Saudi -Arabian Grand Prix on the way.

Russell does not believe that a title challenge is on the cards, but is determined to climb this head one day.

“This was a strong start to the season, but I am now in my seventh season of F1 and I am very satisfied with my previous results, but I don’t dream of standing P2 or P3,” he added.

“I dream of fighting for a world championship and winning a world championship, and I work towards that.

“I don’t know when I will reach my climax and I still have a lot of space to improve. I don’t think I’m close to my climax to be honest.

“I still see a lot of things that I have to be better on. That inspires me immensely.

“The next step is to fight for a World Cup and we are not there yet.

“I am not ungrateful with the position in which I am, only the reality and competitive power of myself that I am here to win.

“I’m here to fight. This was a brilliant start with the machines we have, but we don’t have the ammunition to fight the McLarens.”
