Hamilton Targets First Ferrari Podium

Lewis Hamilton resigned from a desperate Friday to defeat his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc in Grand Prix in Spanish to increase hopes for a first podium with the Italian team.

The 40-year-old seven-time world champion, who moved from Mercedes to Ferrari this year, qualified fifth on Saturday and will compete in the third row of the Sunday grid alongside the successor of Silver Arrows Kimi Antonelli.

Leclerc qualified seventh place.

For Hamilton it was a dramatic change in the assets after he described his car as “not mobile” in practice on Friday, when the former team -mate from Mercedes, Nico Rosberg, 2016, suggested that his age slowed him down.

“I had a soil problem in FP2 on Friday,” said Hamilton.

“So I lost a lot of Down Force and the balance of the car did it. We managed to repair it, and the car is much more mobile and more pleasant today.

“To get into the third quarter and the Top 5, I am very satisfied with it and look forward to tomorrow. I can drive in this car!

“The long -term long -term will be a challenge for everyone which tires and which strategy is best. But we will see. My goal is to get a podium. I had no more for so long – so it’s my goal.”

Hamilton last secured a podium, the 202nd of his career, in Las Vegas last November. He will search for his first podium in 10 races.

The Circuit de Catalunya, venue for the Spanish breed, is one of his favorites. He won a record compensation six times, shared with Michael Schumacher and took pole six times. He won 105 races in his career.

Teammate Leclerc said he decided to maintain tires and did not make a second flight in the second quarter.

“I had no tires left, so I didn’t go out again. I knew it would be difficult, but I made my own choice and I hope it pays off tomorrow.”
