A student has developed a huge model of an Atlantic cable jau to emphasize the effects of overfishing.

The model created by BA (Hons) model student Melis in the third year is used as an educational instrument.

It was carried out as part of a project initiated by Arts University Bournemouth in cooperation with the Poole Museum.

The project aimed to examine the historical importance of the Atlantic cod for the people of pools and the effects of overfishing for its size.

Melis said: “I found it fascinating how to fishing the size of the cod dramatically, and I wanted to find a way to present this.

The model has two fish, a large length of about four feet and a smaller about 30 cm.

These sizes reflect the size difference before and after the overfishing.

The fish are designed so that they move like puppets and add an interactive element to the model.

The models are used in the museum learning team to educate visitors about the history and influence of overfishing.
