The Great Sunil Gavascar supported the India skipper Rohit Sharma after a FAT shaming post of an Indian politician and said Cricket is about skills that do not “model”.

The India of Rohit defeated Australia in the semi -finals of the Champions Trophy on Tuesday in Dubai, but a comment for social media on the body weight of the Indian captain overshadowed the structure.

Shama Mohamed, a spokeswoman for the Indian opposition congress party, posted on X: “Rohit Sharma is fat for an athlete! Must lose weight! And of course the most inconspicuous captain of India has ever had it!”

Mohamed was taken under fire for the post – later deleted – by the media, experts and the governing Bharatiya Janata party.

“I always said that if you only want slim boys, you should go to a modeling competition and select all models. It’s not about it,” said Gavascar to India Today.

Gavascar spoke about how the Indian striker Sarfaraz Khan was “vilified” for his weight problems, but said that they were performances.

“I don’t think size has something to do with it,” said Gavascar.

“It is your mental strength of whether you can end the distance is the most important thing. Well, well, spots and points are still running.”

Rohit had previously been mocked in the Indian Premier League because of his visible “abdomen”, but the 37-year-old ignored his critics.

The Swashbuckling Opener hit a quickfire 28 in the first semi -final when India began her chase of 265 against Australia before Virat Kohli won with his 84 victory.

Both Rohit and Kohli were recently criticized for their lack of runs in the test cricket and came into the 50-over tournament with retirement rumors.

India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir said that Rohit always gives the tone for India’s eyelash, regardless of the runs he achieves.

“If your captain beats such a pace, the changing room is only a very good signal that we want to be absolutely fearless and brave,” said Gambhir when we were asked about Rohit’s form.

“They evaluate from the runs. We evaluate the effects. That is the difference.”

India will meet South Africa or New Zealand in the final on Sunday.
