The Oberhaus opened in 2009 is generally considered one of the best city hotels in the world and is currently placed in fifth place on the 50 best hotels on the 50 best hotels.
The top boutique hotel in Hong Kong in Hong Kong is famous for offering a reserved but luxurious style of living, spacious rooms, unbeatable views and unsurpassed peace and calm in the heart of the busy city.
So does the hype live fairly? I checked in to find out.
Where?

The upper house is located on the Pacific Place, a development of hotels and office buildings on the island of Hong Kong. Its high -towering neighbors such as Conrad and Shangra La dominate the area, but the upper house is a more reserved matter and occupies the 38th to 49th floor of the JW Marriot building – it is literally the upper house.
Among the hotels you will find the luxury shop with the shop a shopping center Pacific Place, which also leads to an Admirality -MTR station. If you leave the area on foot, navigate a little navigation over sidewalks and parks, but as soon as you can be besieged, it is a breeze and you can easily go to the center in about 20 minutes.
style
If you check in all the usual design traps of a large reception area or check in the desk into the upper house, it is more like a modern apartment block than in a hotel. The rooms designed by famous local designers are subtly and refined with soft warm light, natural forests, limestone and steamed color schemes.
After a day on the busy streets of the city, the interiors have a quiet, immediately calming effect. There are 400 works of art around the hotel, all of which were selected by Andre Fu and from a highly towering 98-foot metal wall sculpture by the Japanese artist Hirotoshi Sawada on the atrium 38th floor to smaller ceramics and can be found in every quiet corner. And although he was now 15 years old, the upper house is not a bit aged. It looks as elegant, modern and timeless as always.
Which space?
There are a total of 117 rooms, including 21 suites, a penthouse suite and a characteristic Andre -Fu -Suite, which has its own dining room and a spa room. Even the smaller studio 70 and studio 80 rooms are generous in large size and have the feeling of a modern apartment with natural materials and elegant minimalist furniture.
The suites continues to upset, with separate living rooms with a dining table, a relaxing L -shaped sofa and a coffee table with chunky art and design books. All bathrooms are filled with Bamford products and comprehensive amenities, while the suites offer both epic bathtub and rainforest shower.
The best thing is that every room is honestly stunning panoramic views on the port of Victoria or the summit through almost long windows-to wake up and to wake up the (remote-controlled) curtains in order to be something very special.
Facilities
The slick service begins at the airport with the hotel’s pick-up service, which is worth booking if you are overnight after you fly in after flying in. You will even be hit in the arrival hall in a BMW in the upper house in a BMW and even food in the car that should be delivered to your room on arrival.
In the hotel there is a small gym and a hot yoga courses in the early morning to drive away the jet lag, and although there is no pool or a special spa, you can arrange massages and beauty treatments in your room.
Then there is the “Stone and Star Experience”, a private Tarot card that takes place in a special apartment opposite the hotel. It is a lot of fun and is more based on self -discovery than on terrible predictions about the future (as we feared).
Food and drink
On the 49th floor there is Salisterra, the hotel’s Mediterranean restaurant, which offers a spectacular view of the harbor. Breakfast is served here in the morning, with a number of international menus, from a local menu with dim sum and congee to western options such as pancakes, eggs and pastries – there is even a full English. During lunch and dinner, the menu of the chef Ricardo Chaneton is inspired by his Italian heritage and from the wider Mediterranean, which extends over the coastal areas of Spain, Italy, France and Greece.
Among the many highlights there are dishes such as Nduja Arancini; Beef -Carpaccio; Ink -ink -ink -linguins with smoked chorizo; and lamb Shank a la Provencal. For something easier, the demanding Salisterra Bar offers nibbles such as croquettes and oysters as well as cocktails, sake and single malt scotch.
Extracurricular
The central location of the hotel and the densely packed nature of Hong Kong ensure easily accessible sights in all directions. Nearby is the legendary Peak roadway, which it will whisk at the top of the summit of an old Vintage Funicular. Walk to the Central for high-end shopping opportunities and some of the best food in the city, from famous local places such as Maks noodle to Michelin-Stern-Stern-Stern-Stern-Stern-Star and 50 best-referred wing (currently No. 20). There are parks, galleries and museums without having to leave the island – although it is always fun to catch the star ferry on the Kowloon page.
Best for
The crowd when we spend the night was a mix of business travelers and young couples dressed out, but families are also very greeted. There are a number of activities for children from a toy film game room with the luxury bimbo concept, to music courses and even a children’s-label.
