The 33-year-old de Bruyne enjoyed a glittering 10-year magic under Pep Guardiola and became the central part of a team that started an era of the Premier League dominance.
The Belgian has won 16 trophies since its arrival from Wolfsburg in 2015, including six league titles and a famous triumph of the Club First Champions League in 2023.
He achieved 413 appearances for the citizens during a magnificent term of office, scored 106 goals and achieved 174 templates, which has been one of the greatest midfielder that the Premier League has ever seen.
However, the Belgian has seen his minutes limited this season after being hindered by injuries in the last campaigns, and has now announced in an emotional explanation that he will be left the Etihad when his contract is in the summer.
De Bruyne, who went on Instagram, wrote: “If you see this, you will probably recognize where this is going. So I will come directly and let you all know that this will be my last months as a Manchester City player.
“Nothing is easy to write, but as a football player we all know that this day will come at some point. This day is here – and you deserve to hear it from me first.
“Football led me to all of me – and this city. I followed my dream without knowing that this time would change my life. This city. This club … gave me everything. I had no choice but to return everything! And we advise what – we won everything.
“Whether we like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele and I are grateful for what this place meant for our family.” Manchester “will be in the passports of our children forever – and especially in each of our hearts.
