Looking for discreet luxury? This is Ibiza’s under-the-radar a-list stay

In renovated WE it will admit when we heard for the first time that the Ibiza Gran Hotel described itself on its newly renovated spa as “wellness sanctuary” was our immediate reaction to suppress a ridicule. After all, it is not unusual in luxury tourism to hear such an overblown language, but rarely reality fits marketing bump. But that was before we saw it for ourselves …

The 1,300 m² complex is a full -story building and corresponds to the billing. A Temple, dressed in Marbl, who is devoted to cleaning, pampering and pretty Aqua-Spa in the heart, as well as numerous treatment rooms, a beauty salon and a mammoth fitness studio, all of which were seriously presented. If there is a more impressive wellness offer on the island – what the hotel claims that it is not available – then we don’t have to see it yet.

This impressive upgrade is only the latest reason why the 5-star stay of a VIP volume is so popular-in our short visit we discovered several top-class DJs and a former footballer-but there are many more to be found there.

Where is it?

The Ibiza Gran Hotel is located in the Marina Botafoch with a view of the water to the Dalt Vila, the walled old town of Ibiza, and is wonderful. The restaurants, bars and boutiques by Ibiza’s Capital and Cosmopolitan Hub are just a short walk, as are Talamanca Beach, while the airport is within 15 minutes of driving. Better for Bon Viveur, Pacha – Ibiza’s most venerable night club – is just above the street. On an island on which you can spend a fortune on taxis, this positioning is really as well as possible.

The main lobby with its polished white soils and a slim modern styling describes itself as Ibiza’s first art hotel. A high central attrium that stretches into the sky. Squin and you could be in New York’s Moma. The hotel contains more than 400 tailor -made works from various contemporary artists, and they are difficult to overlook and hang on the ceiling or on different walls.

In fact, many guests will probably have tried to take huge, cloud -shaped sculpture on Tomeu Ventayols, which is placed directly into the entrance. We were told that the lobby is set for an update of 2025, so we expect great things. Elsewhere, the mood is a lot of luxury. This may be a city hotel, but as soon as you are on the extensive area, you will feel surprisingly far from Ibiza’s hustle and bustle – it is a decent trick.

Food and drink

If you describe your morning buffet as a big breakfast, you should deliver better. Of course, the Ibiza Gran Hotel’s is one of the largest and most wasteful spreads we have seen, with committed stations for all the usual tariff (eggs, cheese, bread) as well as specialists who serve cut Jamon, Montaditos – Spanish open sandwiches – and of course on the fizz. Experience is further increased by the excellent waiter employee who welcome every guest as a returning friend (how many are).

The hotel is also blessed with an abundance of Ging-Dining options, including outposts of upper global chains Cipriani (Italian), Zuma (Japanese) and Novikov Pan-Asian tariff opened in summer. But the jewel in his crown is certainly La Gaia, the only hotel restaurant on the island with a Michelin star.

Chef óscar Molina takes the guests on a journey that mixes local Ibizan products with culinary techniques and ingredients from Japan and elsewhere in Asia (Kimchi with beef tartar, someone?). Hotel restaurants can sometimes be a small vanilla, but La Gaia is a calm and soulful affair, the 12-course menu undoubtedly one of the outstanding food experiences of the island.

With hydromassage pools, an icy intelligence bath, aroma showers, a salvation atem room and an excellent hammam and a sauna, the Aqua spa is really first class. Elsewhere, the Ibiza Gran Hotel has two striking pools-a larger for families with a calming waterfall wall and a smaller, more intelligent option for adults on the roof of the spa.

In the main building, in addition to the lobby, you will also find a very intelligent boutique, while the Casino de Ibiza is hidden in a different corner of the property – although you would not know, the hotel is the extent of the hotel.

There are 13 room categories that range from the 35 m² premium option to its latest addition: The 150 square meter Gran Suite Dalt Vila Penthouse opened in summer, which includes a 220 m² terrace with a heated infinity pool. While you differ significantly in size, all 187 rooms of the same, designed by the design, which can be found in the public spaces, follow with wooden floor, comfortable modern equipment and white walls, works of art that give a splash of color. We were particularly enjoyed in a junior suite and enjoyed the spacious, open feeling with an open plan with a sunken free-standing bath.

Extracurricular

It is fair to say that we are big fans of Ibiza Town. The island capital not only offers some of our favorite bars (we only look at the free and locals) and night clubs (hello, club chinois), but it is also just a short ride from Salinas, certainly Ibiza’s Bohemian beach.

However, there is an essential biza experience that you cannot really enjoy if you remain planted on the eastern flank of the island – and that is the sunset. For that you have to go west. But where to go? Well, if there is a magical place to dive the sun under the horizon than from the terrace of La Torre when we can’t find it yet.

It helps that the food is first-class (think of increased Mediterranean driving prices with a permanent focus on local ingredients), the cocktails made professional and the cliff top position unbeatable, but what really characterizes this rustic restaurant is the pitch perfection at the Balearic Soundtrack. It goes without saying that you have to book long in advance.

Best for …

Discreet luxury in the heart of Ibiza’s cosmopolitan center.
