Regis Le Bris claims that Southampton’s experiences prove at the end of last season that fitness can be more important than the shape when they enter the championship’s play-offs.
Last year, Southampton was in a similar position last year as in Sunderland, in which Sunderland is located, with her play-off-place, but without way to go into a place with automatic doctorate.
Saints boss Russell Martin effectively wrote down the last four games of the regular season and made a variety of changes because his team suffered three defeats, one of which hammered 5-0 in Leicester City.
Martin was determined to keep his players fresh and fit in front of the play-offs, and his approach was rewarded when his team was sitting in front of West Brom in a two-legged semi-finals before defeating Leed’s United in the final in Wembley.

Le Bris has followed a similar approach with Sunderland in the past few weeks and has given the fitness to shape because he has rested some of his most important players in front of the play-offs.
The black cats did not manage to win one of their last four games, but while he intends to name a stronger line -up for the next two games against Oxford United and QPR, Le Bris continues to insist that he does not get himself about the results of his team in the run -up to the semi -finals of the next month.
“I think Southampton lost a few games towards the end of the season,” said Le Bris. “I think one of them was 5-0, but they were still promoted.
“We have to manage things correctly. The question is now for the wish of the squad, the team and the fans and the connection we have together. In Bristol City we played with ten men and showed a good connection, good energy.
“This part of the project is the most important thing. Now I hope that in our other two games we will mainly have a complete squad and good energy (before the play-offs).”
