Another season has completed itself for Tadcaster Albion – although it will not be one that will be celebrated for the coming years.

A 17th place for Tadcaster meant that they ended their Premier division campaign 2024/25 in Northern Counties Eastern League, only two places above the relegation zone, a close call that the association will definitely withdraw from the future.

Albion was administered by Mick O’Connell and had entered her second season in 2023 after relegation from the Norther Premier League East Division after reaching a medium speed last year.

In the off -season, a number of new faces were brought into the low season, such as Luca Bolino, James Knowles and Elliot Andrew, the latter firing home over 20 goals during his time.

Tadcaster experienced a pre-season mixed results after driving 4-0 against the Lower Division Selby Town and Yorkshire Amateur together with a 6-0 victory in Brandon Town, but suffered a 2-1 defeat against Brighouse Town, a 3-1 defeat against Scarborough Athletic and a 7:3 hammer from funding from Emley.

There was reason to optimism when the NCEL season began to go, and a bright month of opening gave Albion an early boost.

Three victories on the Bounce started the campaign 3-0 victories over Bottesford Town and Seam Red Star in the Emirates FA Cup before defeating the later Champions Silsden in the Young Guns Arena 3-1.

Defeats against Eccleshill United and Frickley Athletic Earled Taddy Easily before a FA Cup against Boro Rangers and a 6-1 drop in the descended goole were dissipated.

The FA Cup progress to Seam Red Star and Boro Rangers brought a spectacle to get enthusiastic, and the winners of the Northern Premier League, Macclesfield, visited North Yorkshire.

Unfortunately, her confidence seemed to have a goal for Taddy when the defeats in Knaresborough Town, Hallam, Horbury Town, Albion Sports and Parkgate took place in September with only two wins against WinterTon Rangers and Penistone Church during this time.

It brought all sorts of runs in the Isuzu Fa Vase and in the Ncel League Cup, with the consistency for O’Connell’s team a real difficulty.

October brought similar editions, with Rossington Main, Golcar United, Campion and Thackley defeated only a league victory against Rossington Main and a pickering town.

However, they celebrated three points against Handsworth to end the month, but could not immediately follow the victory, with four defeats of the league against Thackley, Barton Town, Bottesford and Beverley Town.

Tadcaster soon started what was her best takeover and ended with an indictment for four games without defeat, although only two of these games were victories.

Hopefully it was the beginning of a new chapter for the brewers on the way to the new year, although he ended in 2024 with a 3-1 defeat against Bottom Club Goole.

January was the quietest month of Albion in relation to the devices after flooding, which led to further problems and forced volunteers to save the football club from irreparable damage.

These efforts could not be replicated on the field, with two defeats and a draw in January.

But here too, the consistency proved to be a problem; After Tadcaster had just hit Play-off-chasers-penistone, he lost their next game 5-0 against Rivals Pickering.

In the next game they reacted with a 1-0 triumph over Rossington Main, but it would be Taddy’s last victory of the season, even though eight games were still to be played.

Any hopes of the early season for a play-off finish had now been squeezed when O’Connell’s team lost five and initiated three of their last eight and ended in a mediocre 17 position.

The drama would not end for tadcaster after the club and the manager O’Connell had separated, the search for its successor continued.

Important players like Andrew and Bolino also left the club together with a number of summer extensions such as Alfie Dean and Ethan Kachosa. Tadcaster fought to keep a stable core of her team for large parts of the campaign.
