Thailand travel without the tourists

Similar to the problems of the regrettable characters of the show, the white lotus effect cannot escape. After the second season of The Black Comedy was released by author director Mike White, Tourists flooded his Sicilian coastal knowledge of Taormina, and the luxurious backdrop of the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace was booked for six months after the film.

The new season of the White Lotus is just around the corner, or rather on Thailand. Hundreds of thousands of tourists are expected to descend into the paradise surroundings of Koh Samui, while the guests in the four seasons of the island are already requesting upgrades to the 10,000 US dollars per night villas on the show. For a country that has already struggled with the surfaces, Thailand is ready for the effect. Local environmentalists feel restless and also on the right-wing government, Maya Bay has closed on Koh Phi Phi for four years in 2018, after boat anchors and propellers, sunscreen and sewer destroyed the corals and the sea life from the white sandbay after they went with the 1999 film from 1999.

Fortunately, there is more Thailand to explore. In fact, there are more than 3,000 kilometers of coast and 1,430 islands. While these goals do not have five-star resorts and often require a hike, they do not have to fight against another traveler for a sun lounger if they arrive there-and that is a real value.

For an island escape: Koh Phayam

There are no cars on this tiny island. As soon as you have made the 75-minute flight to the southern city of Ranong, a short minivan trip from the airport to the pier, and a 35-minute speedboat to the island you have to rent a motorcycle or rent a tuk tuk to get to your accommodation.

The long journey takes off most of the tourists, but those who stay with it are rewarded. The lack of cars offers a sleeper atmosphere and they have the white sandy beaches that are in the sand to behave. Let us be clear: If you expect Butler in your accommodation and luxury spas on your fingertips, you won’t find it here. But everything you need for a relaxing island experience is: cheap Thai massages; Fresh seafood; Hidden beaches on every corner; Sweet beach beam accommodation; Incredible snorkeling to Marine Park in the Surin Islands, a boat trip away; In addition, shining sunsets above the Andaman Sea from the hippie bar, a drinking hole made of recovered driftwood and like a pirate ship.

For a cultural experience: nan

While most tourists drive directly to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai because of their dose of Thai culture, in the nearby neighbor Nan you can experience the gold -plated temples of the country as you should be: in peace and quiet.

The small town is only an hour from Bangkok and is surrounded by mountains. This means that every view is breathtaking, especially Wat Phra’s panorama, that Khao Noi, a hills with a 9m-all Buddha, blessed the city below. Going through the streets lined with trees is a joy with restaurants, cafes and galleries that are embedded in traditional teak houses. At the weekend, the Kuang Mueang Walking Street comes to life for a colorful (and delicious) night market. It is worth renting a car to get a hike in one of the seven national parks of the province (DOI Phu Ka Laos Laos and has a 2,000 m high mountain, waterfalls, caves and even wild elephants) and Bo Kleuas natural rock salt well.

For natural miracles: Khao Sok

Imagine that you wake up on a floating raft hut that rises from Cheow Lan Lake, with huge limestone karsts and old rainforest covered mountains that protrude around them.

While Khao Sok is popular with local tourists, it is almost a secret for foreigners, and they will almost have jungle hikes by the Khao Sok -National Park, Lake Cruises on Longail boats to hidden limestone caves, channels along calm tributaries and wildlife safaris. Stay in one of the floating huts for the true lake experience – 500 Rai is a popular – or a bungalow in the jungle to feel away from everything. Budget travelers can take a minibus directly from Bangkok overnight or to get there faster, a one-hour flight to Surat Thani and then a 90-minute transmission to the village of Khao Sok.

Bangkok beyond the crowd: Bang Krachao

Bang Krachao is known as the green lungs of beings of Bangkok rich life a welcome touch of fresh air from the smog-filled streets of the city. The Chao Praya River ripples in the area and makes it an island within the city, and no cars are allowed, which means that the remote neighborhood remains clean and calm. Start the Skytrain to Bang Na and a fast river ferry from the Bang Na Pier and then set bicycles at the pier to explore at your own pace. Visit a weekend to see the Bang Nam Peung swimming market of the island full of traditional Thai desserts, snacks and handicrafts. Bicycle to the local temples in the region or the secret gardens of the Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park. And make the Bangkok Tree House for a pit stop for lunch, an ice -cold beer or Thai milk tea or even an overnight stay in its pretty huts.
