Designer Shivan Bhatiya and Narresh Kukreja based in Neu-Delhi, who organized a fashion show in a ski area at the beginning of this month during the Ramadan, issued a court announcement.
After the co-founders celebrated the 15th anniversary of their company with a slopeside runway show in the Gulmarg ski area, they confronted criticism from consumers and political and religious leaders during the holy month of fasting and the spiritual reflection on the Muslim world. Her show on March 7 was only a few days in this year’s annual observation of the Ramadan in India, which began on March 2 and will probably end on March 30 or 31. It depends on the viewing of a crescent moon to the next.

Now the special mobile magistrate Court in Srinagar has reported Bhatiya and Kukreja and also the editor -in -chief of Elle India. They are said to have shown inappropriate content that have not respected cultural and religious feelings. The chairman of the Awami Itthad Party Adil Nazir Khan reported reportedly. Although the fashion show of this month Shivan & Narreshs highlighted luxury ski goods, some of the models carried objects from his bathing clothing, including women who wore bikini tops, and a male model in a speedo swimsuit.
A court hearing is planned for April 8, and the procedure is said to progress, even if the three people do not appear. Bhatiya and Kukreja neither returned to media inquiries nor a representative from their company on Monday. Srinagar Court officials and the editor -in -chief of Elle India, Ainee Ahmedi, also not confirmed media inquiries.
In response to the public outcry, the designers spent a public apology on the social media platform X and removed all the pictures and references to the Gulmarg fashion show from their social media channels. In the meantime, government officials publicly stated that the show was a private event without the government.
In an interview with the WWD last week, the designers described the show as “oversight”. Shivan & Narresh had invited almost 100 influencers, members of the media and customers to a four -day stay in the Gulmarg ski area that the brand had identified. In addition to the fashion show of the mountainous ideas, guests took part in snowmobile, picnic and other activities. The fashion company spent approximately 1,500 US dollars per person for the almost 100 guests.
Kukreja said: “It was clearly a sound show.
According to reports, the controversy reported to “heated discussions” in the budget meetings of the legislative assembly of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir in the north of the Indian subcontinent had a special status in Article 370 of the Indian constitution until 2019.
The Shivan & Narresh co -founders are not Muslim and do not observe Ramadan. Bhatiya said the WWD last week: “We are Hindu.
The problem of alcohol consumption is also said to have been a factor for criticism.
“Our idea was to bring Gulmarg to the tourist card when you see the show, it could have worked very hard in the past four months to do the show,” said Kukreja, adding that the Gulmarg advertising plan is “reversed”.
Kukreja recognizes the “public outrage” and told the WWD that he personally does not have something to do with something that is political.
