The head of Newcastle, Eddie Howe, recovered from pneumonia after the hospital stay on Friday

The Newcastle manager Eddie Howe recovered after diagnosing pneumonia, as the club announced.

The 47-year-old was taken to the hospital on Friday after he felt uncomfortable for a few days and subjected tests at the weekend.

He was absent on Sunday for the 4: 1 thrashing by Manchester United by Magpies. The deputy manager Jason Tindall, who stood for the Premier League encounter, said howe observed the game from his hospital bed, with captain Bruno Guimaeres said that the team had played for him.

Newcastle announced that the Englishman had pneumonia on Monday and added: “The club continues to expand Eddie and his family his best wishes and support for Eddie and his family while continuing his recovery.”

Howe was quoted in the statement with the words: “A big thank you to everyone who is associated with Newcastle United and the broader football community for their news and warm wishes. They have a lot to do with me and my family.

“I would also like to pay tribute to our incredible NHS and the hospital staff who treated me. I am very grateful for the specialist care that I receive and after a time of recovery I look forward to being back as soon as possible.”

Tindall and co -trainer Graeme Jones will continue to take responsibility for Newcastle against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa on Wednesday and Saturday of this week, the club confirmed. It added that further updates of the condition and the return of Howe would be communicated “in due course”.

Howe has headed Newcastle since November 2021 and led her to an unforgettable victory over Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in Wembley last month to end her 70-year-old drought by domestic trophy. The Magpies are currently sitting fourth in top flight because they push for a place in Champions League.
