Lately, some WhatsApp users have desperately desperately in the app at the Addition of Meta AI. In particular, they are upset that they cannot switch it off.

However, Ink Digital, however, reports that another (possibly more welcome) function of the app is “switched off”.

The attitude that WhatsApp refers to as a “extended security measure” can help “to prevent a flood from reaching unwanted messages, says the expert.

“While it does not block any messages from your contacts, this setting should protect you from large spam attacks that could bring your phone to a standstill.”

The function is referred to as a block of unknown account reports

The function called block unknown account reports prevents highly volume texts from unknown numbers from being prevented from reaching your phone.

It does not prevent all spam or potential spam from reaching your WhatsApp, but it cuts messages from accounts outside of your contacts when “you cross a high volume,” says WhatsApp’s website.

This is helpful because “in some cases a large amount of spam messages slow down or even freeze the performance of your phone,” said Ryan.

“Usually these messages come from unknown numbers, not from their regular contacts.”

Texts of regular contacts can still be reached while you have switched on the setting and messages are no longer blocked as soon as you return to “normal” volumes.

How do I activate block unknown account reports in WhatsApp?

“If you use an iPhone, you can switch this function on by going to settings, then tapping privacy and expanding,” said Ryan.

As soon as you are there, you can simply switch unknown block block messages.

In the meantime, you have to tap the three-dot menu symbol on an Android device, the expert added.

“Next, go to settings, then to privacy and choose expanded. You can then activate the function from this menu.”

If you use WhatsApp -Web, “click on the three points, go to settings, then privacy and choose expansion,” Ryan continued. There you should see the listed setting and just switch it on.
