What we loved in the Universal Epic Universe

Orlando – The pills of movement diseases came out at 2:46 p.m.

I was almost five hours in my search for the hottest new themed park destination on the planet, the Universal Epic Universe, to drive, observe and eat. And the mission was about to go in overdrive.

My husband and my little children, who had spent a preview of the park for me more than a month before his ceremonial opening, went back to our hotel room to get a break. In the meantime, I had a long list of roller coasters, thrilling, immersive countries and snacks.

As a native of Florida, I knew that my brain was just before the rattling. I have developed a love of hate with roller coasters: I love the feeling of flying, falling and resting; I hate the following wooziness. But unusual for me, a Disney and a universal geek who has visited Orlando’s theme parks since my toddler, this disco -combination would all be new. The area has not had a big new themed park for more than 25 years.

In the next few hours I jumped by four of the five theme -related countries of the park, screamed through six trips and only consumed in a diving park. At the end of the 11-hour day, I hadn’t trapped two trips, two shows, a delightful animatronic kite and more than a dozen restaurants and bars.

The universe may be epic, but in this advance it worked in seizures and starts. Everywhere, signs warned that the park was in a “technical sample” and that some elements may not be available.

The EPIC officially opens on May 22, but employees, your guests and media are visited. When Universal said that a preview for hotel guests and others would be available in mid -April – together with my own Spring Break Road Trip in Florida – we decided to book a room and add a stopover on our travel route.

The epic universe comprises five separate countries that have reached most of the most impressive and through dramatic tunnellic portal inputs.

-Es is Super Nintendo world, of which versions were built in Japan and California.

-Dark Universe emphasizes classic monsters.

-The wizard world of Harry Potter – The service for magic brings French flair into the canon.

-Wie your dragon trains -isle of Berk is an activated Viking hamlet.

-Celestial park serves as a central center with fountains and restaurants. A massive hotel is anchored by an end to the park, and entertainers are distributed everywhere. We even cut a poem by a residence writer when asked.

Do my personal interests match the most of these topics? Not really. Did I have a great time while I got my brain out? Absolutely. Experience was not perfect, but I hadn’t expected it to be.

The moments that stay with me: my daughter, 4, brave, big trips and they love. I remember how much I still love scary roller coasters. Share a frozen butter beer with my husband as we did when we were together. Take the bus back to our hotel and compare notes with the people around us: what collapsed, what we hang, what we loved. And luckily no indication of movement disease.

Excessive joy in Super Nintendo World

Super Nintendo World – a loud, somewhat chaotic arcade that is brought to life – delighted me, despite my apathy. Have you always wanted to be like Mario and jump up to meet one of these yellow blocks with the question mark? You can totally. It will even make a “beep”.

“I have the feeling that I was dropped into a video game – and then I immediately wonder if I want to drop into a video game,” said my husband.

My 4-year-old and I drove the slow and lovable but not very testing Yoshi adventure after a 25-minute waiting time. Despite the lack of drama or speed, the family-friendly journey had a 34-inch height requirement that my toddler had excluded. I would go with young children again, but look at it for myself.

Mario Kart: Bowser’s challenge was another Miss for me: the journey required a difficult visor and safety glasses, and it had a greatly expanded reality component. They were able to press controls and pretend that you could control, but I was not clear to myself and felt overwhelmed.

Don’t miss: the winner for me was the Mine-Cart madness, a sweet and surprising maintenance with the topic of Donkey Kong, which was supposed to imitate the feeling of jumping through gaps. Adventure children (and their adults) should enjoy it, and they can also dig the ridiculously sweet banana-and-pinaaapple float, which I tried while I was waiting for a driving delay.

Child -friendly trips

The world that was surrounded by the franchise “How to Train Your Dragon” was a favorite, and it was also the area that I had not tested the most. It felt like the most kinetic country, with a roller coaster that goes around, a falling kite flight trip, a huge playground and a water trip that was open to all age groups. We no longer had time to try the last three of these offers as well as a live show and a Dragon Meet-and-Greet.

We enjoyed the quick service restaurant Mead Hall, in which we skipped the mead, but freed a child meal with sausage, fries, fries, mac and cheese bites and carrots.

Hiccup’s wing glider was an adorable and adventurous option for a child who recently discovered that she loves coasters. The drops and twists and speeds were not a joke, but for this 40 inches and older.

With 4 and 1½, my children are not the ideal age for universal parks that are strong on thrilling thrilling. But it turned out that there were many options for the older one as long as their patience for the lines. There was less than I expected that the toddler did it, but he had no idea: he created his own chaotic fun.

Don’t miss: We all loved to drive with the shaded star cup carousel, a bizarre, rolling of a carousel.

Single-rider lines for quick access

I was thinking about paying about $ 213 over the ticket price of over $ 169 for an overview pass, which enables me to access most trips quickly. But I decided to use other tools – namely the individual riding lines.

One of my biggest tips on the theme park is to look for the lines that enable people to drive from one as a party. Groups that join the line are shared, so it is a no-go go with small children, but when the goal is speed, it is brilliant. In the epic universe, most trips have this option, although the availability during our visits was stained.

As soon as the family had divided, I made a solo berry for the trips I still had to catch. It was a winning strategy. Ten minutes after I went with Ride Overdrive, I wrote my husband an SMS: “Single Rider is a miracle.”

I practically skipped Ride Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. (It is a stormy journey with an amazingly looking animatronic monsters; more “Ooooh, cool” than “BOO!”) The Mario Kart trip, which had posted a two-hour waiting time in the morning in the morning, took about 20 minutes to continue. After being ready for the donkeys for the donkeys, I brake through the solo line.

Do not miss: my last single trip and my favorite also had a surprisingly short wait without a single lane being necessary. Stardust Racers was the roller coaster ride, which convinced me to chew this movement disease pill. It is quick, at speeds of up to 62 miles per hour and reaches heights of 133 feet. It was a lot of time when I raced through the air. I screamed so much – and have sparked my love for roller coasters again.

Magic under maintenance in Harry Potter Land

The ultra-specific, flawlessly thematic Harry Potter landed in the other two parks in the universal in the other than they were opened in 2010 and 2014. Universal handed over the wand to its chic new country, which was mainly modeled to Paris from the 1920s.

The journey of this area, Harry Potter and the Battle of the Ministry, is a struggle to understand something that needs happiness and a quick trigger finger to reserve a slot in the virtual queue of the app. During our visit it could just as well be called Harry Potter and the curse of the constant break. My husband grabbed a place for me, me and our daughter; When we appeared while driving during our assigned time, it was below.

When we returned later, we found a queue area that was stunning – not only because of its capacity, but also because of its design, scale and special effects. Although the pace slowed down to a crawl and we were delayed at the top of the line, my daughter and I made it after about two hours, while the rest of the family remained in a special waiting area.

The journey itself is a wide elevator car that zoomed sideways, up and down, watched and interacted with the events around the process of the villain Dolores Umbridge. It was Herky-Rucky enough that I kept my daughter calm and was exciting enough that I wanted to drive again.

I made it just in time to eat in the nearby French café in the long time, high on my “must” list before the park was closed. A massive crepe answered the question: “Is it possible to have too much butter beer in a dish?” (The answer was, but that didn’t prevent us from eating most of it.)

Don’t miss: this trip! When it works. Even if only tens of thousands of tiles, cheeky government messages or sensation of “using” the Métro-Floo transit are amazed.

Frustration with the app

For a Luddite complaint: I wish all day that I had a paper card when I crossed the park. Everyone I asked told me that there were no cards or maybe all information in the app yet. But I would have liked to have seen all the trips, rules, toilets (decor in every country) and saw restaurants in a view.

Even with warm but relatively pleasant weather in the middle of April, the epic universe would have used more shaded or shaded areas. This applies in particular in the central section, in which the fountain of fountains constantly spoke out. Water, water, everywhere and not a drop to cool down.

There are so many restaurants that I have to visit a dozen times to try them all. Nevertheless, more child meals and fast snacks would be welcome for a fast -moving day.

I understand that delays are part of the business during a technical sample, but it was frustrating that the app did not always correct the waiting times. There were rarely details about how long a delay would last. The experience of the virtual queue for the Potter trip was difficult for us and most people we talked to.

Nevertheless, I found the day full of thrills – and reasons for this lifelong themed park -Nerd to return.
